What is this blog and why does it matter?

Before I start posting random things on my blog, I think I need to explain to you all what this blog will be used for. I attend Lancaster Bible College and am in an English composition class. My professor has assigned us to write a blog with our assignments so we can look back and see how our writing has been evolving. We are starting to do a research assignment over a week period. This blog will contain the process and my findings ad it turn into a college paper.

In the next 2 paragraphs the exercise we had to complete was a “fast write”. I wrote for 3 min for each paragraph without stopping. If I couldn’t think of what to say, I had to keep writing, and no stopping allowed. The book gave us a list of statements and we were to choose one to write about. At first I thought it was a crazy assignment and wouldn’t learn anything about it, but I was completely wrong. It actually helped me to focus my thoughts. If I continue to type even if I get a writer’s block, I focus more on what I need to do. I get sick of typing dots or even my thoughts. I want the correct words and sentences down. If I do not continue to write and just stop to think, I get side tracked. Maybe by my own thoughts of the day or even by the car that passes by my window. I encourage you to try to fast write about something you believe in or disagree on. How much more focused are you? Revise the paragraph and compare it to another paragraph you have written. I think you will be completely surprised.

I strongly believe in the statement, “You can use your own experiences and observations as evidence.” When you go through something tough or hard to overcome you learn from those experiences. You become an expert on what you went through and how you were able to (cant think of the word, it is still not coming to me………don’t want to use overcome again….) defeat your (dang it! Need another word..which I can not think of...) circumstance. You might be able to read about it and have others and professional help but sometimes the best way to conquer something is to live and learn, or learn from your mistakes. Also I believe that you should use the professional help but don’t do exactly what he/she tells you. No one ever goes through the exact same thing. It is always different people at different times and no one is the same. Use your personal way of coping with something and mix it with help. That way you are able to figure out exactly the best way to deal with situations.

It is often said that people are entitled to their own opinion, and no one opinion is better than another. I completely agree. We are all different people and think differently than others, which is the way we were made. If we all thought the same and all had the same opinions, it would be a very boring world. If we all thought the same a cure for many diseases and medicines would have not been discovered. Sometimes people will not get along or argue because they believe something different than you. THAT’S OKAY! Many people want someone to agree with them 100% of the time. That’s not a good way to live. You learn from others opinions and as well you can make your opinion stronger by backing it up. I went to a public high school and not many students were Christians, which made my 4 years hard and sometimes painful. I remember getting made fun of and having to defend my faith on numerous occasions. While I wished everyone would have just seen it my way I was able to learn how to value the fact that when they were questioning and ridiculing me, my faith was growing. I was able to learn how to defend my faith and be bold about it.
